PTA INFORMATION
The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a national organization comprised of more than 5 million parents and other concerned adults devoted to the educational success of children and the promotion of parent involvement in schools.
The Parent Teacher Association flourishes in more than 25,000 school communities nationwide by harnessing the energy and talents of millions of volunteers to be:
the voice for all children
relevant resources for families and communities and
champions for the education and well-being of every child.
The local PTA is comprised of 4 elected officers, 6 appointed executive board members, and a teacher liaison. The local PTA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The local PTA exists as a separate entity from Bright Beginnings Charter School, yet works in tandem to involve and educate its members.
The local PTA’s purpose is to support parents, guardians, and teachers of Bright Beginnings Charter School students by:
1) Engaging parents to support their students both in and out of the classroom by participating in academic and community building activities.
2) Supporting the needs of classroom teachers by:
a. Providing parent volunteers
b. Offering funding for continuing education, training seminars, and on-going developmental or outreach presentations
c. Providing funding for “extras” in the classrooms.
3) Enhancing the overall educational experience of students by offering both in-class and extra-curricular experiential opportunities that promote growth in the areas of health, the arts, and academics.
In serving this purpose, the local PTA partners with Bright Beginnings Charter School to enrich a superior overall educational experience, where both students and teachers return year after year.
